Student Teaching

As part of my master's program in the School Library Teacher Program at Simmons College, I completed two student teaching experiences: one elementary and one secondary. Each practicum experience is 100 hours, but includes an ambitious amount of projects. For each experience, the practicum student much undertake a major teaching unit (at least three lessons), a technology project, an administrative project, and a project which promotes diversity. In addition, practicum students must complete a Massachusetts standards-based portfolio notebook, which includes a detailed work log, reflection pieces on three classroom teacher observations, two examples of student assessment and reflection statements, a written statement on a professional growth area, and additional artifacts which align with Massachusetts state teacher standards.

I completed my elementary practicum experience at Fletcher-Maynard Academy, a small public school in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and completed my secondary practicum at Stoneham High School in Stoneham, Mass.
